Twitter Has Re-Launched Its ‘Chirp’ Developer Conference
The platform is looking to enhance its bonds with the developer community with the re-launch of Chirp.
As explained by Twitter:
- “The Chirp Developer Conference is a celebration of the innovation developers have brought to Twitter, the opportunities that await, plus a few surprises.”
Twitter is also bringing back the Chirp Developer Challenge, where developers are invited to submit their most interesting, creative and innovative uses of Twitter’s API.
Over $520k worth of prizes will be awarded in three categories:
- Content Discovery apps.
- Conversation Safety tools.
- Public Good apps.
That could help Twitter find new use cases and developmental opportunities, beyond the capacity of its own team. Although whether Twitter will be able to develop them or not will largely come down to who’s in charge, and with Elon Musk still in the process of buying the app, who knows if the winner’s technology will be integrated into the platform.

IG Testing AR Elements & NFT Features
IG Testing AR Elements & NFT Features
Wondering what AR stickers on IG would look like? Well, we’re about to find out very soon!
As seen above, IG is developing a range of AR elements for IG Stories, with users being able to add these animated, digital objects as overlays into physical spaces.
The pending IG update looks extremely similar to Snapchat’s World Lenses, launched in 2017, which enables users to add virtual objects to real-world scenes. This seems to be how IG’s AR stickers will also interact with user’s physical spaces.
IG is also looking to incorporate new NFT display options to be included in the AR update.
Meta has stated:
- “While we’re starting with simple AR display and sharing, this will be a key step towards enabling fully AR and 3D-native, immersive, NFTs in the future, like virtual items and accessories, sculptures, clothing, and more.”
IG hasn’t provided any details on a full rollout of its AR elements as yet, with the ‘See in AR’ option only available to a small number of Instagram creators and collectors.
But, you can expect to see more on this soon, as Meta continues to seek new ways to merge its current audiences over to the Metaverse space.
The Rise Of Beauty Enhancement Trends And Tools On Social
The recently published report looks into the ‘Rise of Beauty Enhancement Trends and Tools Online’ and the beauty standards this is contributing to.
With the rise of IG filters and photo-editing apps such as FaceTune and MakeUpPlus, beauty conglomerate LookFantastic conducted the research to find out – How prominent is the use of beautification filters, and what are the real impacts based on key trends.
Research areas also specifically focused on TikTok, showing below the most popular beauty trends searched for in the app:
Whilst the research and trend analysis is extremely thorough, it also took a blanket approach to all searches conducted across social platforms due to the lack of in-app data breakdowns and GDPR regulations.
Therefore influencers and brands advocating for beauty transparency on social platforms, whilst discussing or sharing content in relation to the above topics, would have also been grouped into LookFantastic’s research figures to distort the final results of the true nature of the content included in the research’s topline figures.
It’s a huge step in understanding beauty trends more across social, and is an area of R&D many beauty companies put little to no budget towards YoY in order to better understand their consumer’s true thoughts on beauty brand’s standards, and the trends they create across social.
